The Dalton Gang starts #11 in the 2015 Yukon Quest

Last night Dave and the Gang attended the start banquet in downtown Whitehorse.  Joined by handlers Jen and Kirsten, Dave also spent time with the Kitchen Family.  Brian and Margarite, and kids, have hosted the Gang in Whitehorse for several years.  They’re a wonderful family and open their home to friends as if they were family.

As is custom, musher’s drew their starting position – this year, Dave’s taking off in 11th place on Saturday morning.  The field of mushers this year boasts some top teams and drivers – Dave’s going to be chased some strong dog teams to Braeburn.  Last time I talked to Dave, he expressed his only intention in the race was to start his 28th Yukon Quest, and hopefully finish it with a happy dog team.

With 18 hours left to go, Dave’s making final preparations — packing his sled, getting harnesses together, and preparing for his 1000 mile journey.  The dogs probably had today off and are resting comfortably behind the Kitchen house.
